I did a search on our.   Jim Thompson's books "The Complete M1 Garand" and "The Classic M1 Garand" seem pretty popular, as do a lot of Scott Duff's works. Bruce Canfield also seems to be a popular name, and Osprey publishing just released a book about M1s. The book describes the path that he followed that led to his employment at the Federal Government's Springfield Armory [it was disbanded in about after a long history of service] designing what became the M1. The M-1 Garand was adopted by the US Army in Springfield Armory began tooling up to produce the new rifle/5(27). Just a few words of warning for the potential reader of this book. It is very comprehensive and will tire the non zealous who wants to know everything about the Garand.
